How To Set Up Header And Navigation Menu

3 min read

Buldiva Pro includes two different ways to manage your website header:

  • Basic Header Settings
  • Custom Header Templates

You can use either method depending on how much control you need.

Basic Header Settings #

The easiest way to configure your site header is through the Buldiva Customizer.

Go to:

Appearance → Customize → BuldivaPro Customizer → Header Settings

Inside this panel, you can enable or disable common header features such as:

  • Navbar Overlay
  • Navbar Background Change
  • Sticky Header
  • Preloader
  • Navbar Button
  • Topbar

You can also customize:

  • Preloader Style
  • Navbar Button Text
  • Navbar Button Link

Example:

  • Navbar Button Text: Get Started
  • Navbar Button Link: /contact-us/

After making your changes, click Publish.

This method works best if you are using the default Buldiva header.

Advanced Header Styling #

If you want to customize the appearance of the default header without building a completely custom header, use the advanced style settings.

Go to:

Buldiva → Theme Settings → Elements Style

Here you can enable additional styling controls for:

  • Topbar
  • Main Navbar
  • Sticky Header
  • Navbar Button
  • Scroll To Top Button

Turn on the option you want to customize, then additional settings will appear below.

For example, after enabling:

Enable Navbar Style Settings

you will be able to customize:

  • Header background color
  • Menu text color
  • Hover color
  • Sticky header color
  • Button style
  • Spacing and typography

This is the best option if you want to keep the default Buldiva header but make it match your own brand colors and style.

Using A Custom Header Template #

If you want full control over the header design, Buldiva allows you to create your own Elementor-based header template.

First, go to:

Buldiva → Theme Settings → Template Builder Settings

Inside this section, choose which Header template should be used globally on your site.

Then go to:

Buldiva → Template Builder → Header

You can either:

  • Edit the existing header template
  • Create a new one

To create a new custom header:

  • Go to Buldiva → Template Builder
  • Click Add New Template
  • Choose Header as the template type
  • Give it a name
  • Edit the template with Elementor
  • Add your logo, menu, button, icons, or topbar
  • Click Publish

After publishing the new header:

  1. Return to Buldiva → Theme Settings → Template Builder Settings
  2. Select your new header template
  3. Save the settings

Your custom Elementor header will now appear across the entire website.

How To Create A Navigation Menu #

Before the header can display a menu, you need to create one.

Go to:

Appearance → Menus

Then:

  • Click Create a New Menu
  • Enter a menu name
  • Click Create Menu

Next:

  • Add the pages you want to display:
  • Home
  • About Us
  • Services
  • Projects
  • Blog
  • Contact
  • Drag and drop the items into the correct order
  • To create dropdown menus, drag a menu item slightly to the right underneath another item
  • Click Save Menu

Assign The Menu To The Header #

After creating the menu:

  • Inside Appearance → Menus
  • Open the Menu Settings section
  • Assign the menu to:
  • Primary Menu
  • Main Navigation
  • Header Menu

The exact location name may vary depending on your Buldiva header setup.

Click Save Menu.

Your menu will now appear in the website header.

If You Are Using A Custom Elementor Header #

If you are using a custom header template, you must manually insert a navigation menu widget inside Elementor.

Inside the custom header template:

  • Edit the header with Elementor
  • Add the navigation menu widget
  • Select the menu you created
  • Customize the menu style and layout
  • Click Update

The custom header will now display your selected menu.
